Brief Summary

Arriving at Goodwood Motor Circuit at 7 am, I ensured all essential equipment was ready and allocated to the appropriate cars. With a late-entry car that hadn’t raced in a while, I knew I’d need to work efficiently to get it track-ready. Despite a few nerves, I was excited to build on my previous race-day experience.

What I Did

With the preparation from my Track Day and Silverstone Festival roles, I felt confident managing all the preliminary checks and procedures. Here’s a breakdown of each car and my role:

Talbot T26C

This 1948 classic had previously experienced a leak in the engine block, so my priority was to ensure it was race-ready. After inspecting the engine and carefully monitoring for leaks, I made sure the car stayed cool before and after each session. Additionally, I set up pit boards on the pit wall to keep the team coordinated on lap times and driver needs.

AC Cobra 2020 (Pikes Peak)

Racing in the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, the Cobra was a particular focus. My role involved thorough pre-race checks for leaks and fluid levels, ensuring no unexpected issues would surface mid-race. Additionally, I managed the tool setup and storage after Saturday’s races to streamline our team’s operations.

Jaguar E-Type

Competing in the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, the E-Type demanded a bit more technical precision in setup, especially in adjusting tire pressures to suit changing track conditions. I checked the spare tyres had 30 PSI. Made sure the starting tire pressures matched what we had in the book. Although a pit timing issue impacted the final result, the car performed well overall.

AC Cobra 429

For the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, I ensured that this high-performing Cobra was prepped for endurance. Watching this car achieve such a high finish was a personal highlight, as the team’s efforts and my contributions were validated by the performance.

This event marked my first podium as a Junior Motorsport Technician, an emotional and fulfilling achievement. I had the privilege of working with top drivers like Volker Hichert, Mike Whittaker and three-time Le Mans winner André Lotterer. In addition, with John Spiers and Nigel Greensall. It was especially rewarding to see the AC Cobra exceed expectations in both performance and results. Goodwood Revival is a thrilling event I’d recommend to any motorsport enthusiast, and the competitive edge made it truly memorable as a Junior Motorsport Engineer.
